Solid Waste is hiring an Operator/CDL Driver
Position: Solid Waste Operator / CDL Driver (Full-Time)
Franklin County Solid Waste & Landfill is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our team. This position combines waste collection driving with landfill operations and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: (This is a brief overview and not a complete list of all employee duties.); Operate garbage trucks and roll-off trucks (CDL required);
Operate landfill equipment including loaders, compactors, and dozers; Perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on trucks and heavy equipment; Diagnose mechanical issues and report or assist with repairs; Grease, service, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure safe operation; Assist with general landfill operations and site upkeep
What We’re Looking For:
Valid CDL (Class A) Tanker Endorsement; Strong mechanical aptitude — ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and care for equipment; Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment maintenance preferred. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to take initiative in identifying and addressing equipment issues. Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work outdoors year-round.
Important:
This position requires pride in your work. Maintaining clean, well-kept trucks, equipment, shop areas, and landfill facilities is a daily responsibility and expectation. Must have a clean driving record, be able to provide DOT Physical, be able to pass a random drug test.
