PROPERTY TAX DUE DATES:
First-half* payments are due December 20th.
*The taxpayer is given the option of paying their taxes in full or in two equal halves on or before December 20th of the tax year. The second half must then be paid no later than June 20th of the following year. There are no grace periods.
The Treasurer’s Office does NOT mail out statements for the June second half payment. For question regarding your amount due, call our office.
Second-half payments are due June 20th.
LATE FEES: Because this is the remainder of previous year taxes, if the payment is received late, a late fee of 2% and interest of 1% monthly (which is calculated from Jan 1) will be applied to the amount due. See IDAHO CODE 63-903.
Effect of failure to receive notice: If you do not receive a tax notice for your property, this does not excuse the late charge and interest for non-payment. See Idaho Code 63-902(9).
Proof of payment of property taxes is the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TAXPAYER [Idaho Code 63-1306(2)]. Be sure to keep accurate records, receipts, and canceled checks documenting your payment.
If a property has changed ownership or a mortgage has been paid off since notices were printed (in November), the Treasurer’s Office recommends homeowners reach out to verify the amount still owed. Also, make sure to notify the Assessor’s Office whenever you mailing address changes (208)852-1091.
DEADLINE TO FILE FOR PROPERTY TAX REDUCTIONS IS FROM JANUARY 1 TO APRIL 15 OF EACH YEAR.
